Huge thanks to all of our volunteers for another successful Boys & Girls Club Kid Cafe, dinner night! Prudential Realty Mart and friends served a wonder dinner of pizza, pasta, salad and cake to more than 200 Burlington area youths!!

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

On April 19th, 2010 Nancy will be honoring Alec Grab with the Prudential Spirit of Community Award. Alec is a 7th grader at Browns River Middle School and is one of two Vermont students picked for this award. He worked hard to raise $3,400 for the Vermont Special Olympics.

VERMONT’S TOP TWO YOUTH VOLUNTEERS SELECTED IN
15TH ANNUAL NATIONAL AWARDS PROGRAM

Killington and Underhill students earn $1,000 awards,
engraved medallions and a trip to nation’s capital

MONTPELIER, Vt. – Colton Blackman, 18, of Killington and Alec Grab, 12, of Underhill today were named Vermont’s top two youth volunteers for 2010 by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, a nationwide program honoring young people for outstanding acts of volunteerism. The awards program, now in it’s 15th year, is conducted by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP). 

Colton was nominated by Woodstock Union High School in Woodstock, and Alec was nominated by Browns River Middle School in Jericho. As State Honorees, each will receive $1,000, an engraved silver medallion, and an all-expense-paid trip in early May to Washington, D.C., where they will join the top tow honorees from each of the other states and the District of Columbia for several days of national recognition events. Ten of them will be named America’s top youth volunteers for 2010 at that time. (click for full press release in pdf format)
