Williston Vermont Real Estate
Williston Vermont Real Estate
Williston has undergone an incredible transformation over the last fifty years, growing from a small, rural township to a thriving Burlington suburb. Several factors have contributed to its growth, including, in particular, its proximity to the City of Burlington and easy access to the Burlington International Airport and Interstate 89. Most development is concentrated in the western part Williston, which is home to a large retail park with superstores like Toys R Us, Home Depot, Marshall’s, Best Buy, Circuit City, and Walmart. Complementing this is an attractive and well-planned retail center called Maple Tree Place, which offers, among other treats, a Ben & Jerry’s shop, a Starbucks, and the Majestic 10 Theater, 10-screen movie theater. Williston has also seen the opening of many popular family restaurants along Route 2A. Apart from the commercial center, Williston Village has successfully retained its small-town Vermont atmosphere, with its many historic buildings along Williston Road, including the Old Brick Church (1832), Thomas Chittenden Memorial Town Hall (1842), and the Williston Town Offices (1860). Lake Iroquois, near the Williston - St. George border, is a popular place for swimming, fishing, and boating. Not to be missed is the Catamount Outdoor Family Center — a great place for kids to try out their first pair of cross-country skies. Local news and events are covered by the weekly Williston Observer.
