Vermont Camping and Hiking
Vermont Camping and Hiking
From lakefront lean-tos to woodland campfires, Vermont's pristine natural landscapes call to the outdoor camping enthusiast. Vermont has over 75 private campgrounds, 40 state campgrounds, and general camping areas in the Green Mountain National Forest. The state maintains an excellent Vermont State Park web site describing each park in detail with maps of camping areas. Private campgrounds offer everything from snack bars and pools to cable TV and WiFi. If it's natural serenity you want, head into the wilderness, pitch your tent, and revise some of your favorite campfire songs: "There was a desperado from the wild and wooly west. He wore a big sombrero and two guns beneath his chest…."
