Located just 12 miles north of Burlington on Interstate 89, the town of Milton is a vibrant, growing community served by both Lake Champlain and the Lamoille River. The river’s seven waterfalls—or Great Falls—provided an early economic boon to the town, powering local sawmills, gristmills, and other manufacturing industries. Today, the banks of the river have returned to their more natural state, making the Milton a great spot for boating and fishing in the Champlain Valley. Also of note, seven or eight dairy farms still operate in Milton, preserving Northwestern Vermont’s historic dairy industry.
