Why Sell Your Home in the Winter

alt tag

Winter is here and you may think, I'll wait to sell my home until the spring. Well, we're here to tell you that you don't have to and in fact, it may be better for you to sell now!

The majority of buyers are looking at homes first on the internet and the internet has no seasons! Having instant access to properties has helped eliminate the typical 'buying season'. If a buyer is truly serious they are always looking. You may have fewer showings during the winter, but the showings you do have mean business.

If you wait until spring, you are likely to have more competition. Put your home on the market now and position yourself for a better sale.

There are also many tax benefits to owning a home. Typically home buyers can use mortgage interest, private mortgage insurance, and real estate taxes all as tax deductions. The sooner they close on a home in the new year, the more they will have for deductions when they go to file their taxes next year.

As with any season, there are some tips to keep in mind if you are selling your home in the winter. First, avoid too many holiday decorations, you don't want to overpower the room. If you have a fireplace, have it going for showings, bring in the warmth and cozy vibes for buyers. Make sure to keep a light on outside! Keep your walkways shoveled and salted. The more inviting, the better your home will show.

There are many advantages to selling in the winter and we are here to help you so it doesn't feel so daunting. If you are thinking of selling your home now or in the future, we'd love to hear from you! Contact us today!
